Where is the Kingston Abbeyfield House? When will there be a Kingston Abbeyfield House?
Abbeyfield Kingston has been working hard to purchase or build an Abbeyfield House for Kingston.
Twice in 2008 we were disappointed when negotiations to acquire and renovate existing buildings
fell through, but we are persisting.
In order to be attractive and accessible for seniors, it is important that an Abbeyfield House
in Kingston be near shopping areas and convenient to public transportation, as well as
being in an attractive and quiet location. Preliminary negotiations are underway concerning an existing
house near downtown Kingston which seems to fit these requirements, but we are not yet ready
to make any announcement.
Although we don't yet have a House, we hope to either buy a house or
buy property and build a house soon. We hope to be able to obtain government funding to cover part of
the cost.
If you know of an existing building which could accommodate ten to twelve residents, after renovations,
and which might be for sale, we would be most grateful if you could let us know. Likewise, if you know
property on which we could build an Abbeyfield House, near to shopping and public transportation and in
a pleasant neighbourhood, please let us know!
